This striking vase was part of a series of work entitled 'Fforest', inspired by wet Welsh woodlands in Winter. The vase was thrown in high-firing stoneware clay and the outside painted in a copper oxide coloured 'slip' (liquid clay). The slip has been carved away using a technique called sgraffito, revealing the bare clay beneath and creating a complex relief surface.   This is a one of a kind artwork, all of my ceramics being bespoke items and completely unique. Measures 26 cm in height.
